Jan is Carlton Elleker Chase’s data protection manager, advising the firm and assisting its clients on data protection issues.
She was previously Assistant General Counsel at the US software company, FIS, and led the group’s GDPR compliance project in 2018. Jan has a wealth of expertise in the data protection sphere, for example, conducting data privacy audits, GDPR policy compliance, e-marketing regulations, data retention issues and the treatment of employee data and special category health data.
Jan’s recent data protection experience includes:
- Advising international corporate groups on full scale GDPR compliance, including data mapping, drafting binding corporate rules, and more recently international data transfer agreements.
- Advising an international health care provider on compliance with international data privacy regulations, with particular focus on the treatment of special category health data.
- Acting as the data protection representative for a mid-size technology consultancy. This role involves advising the group on DSAR responses, data breach strategies and assisting with its successful ISO certification.
- Acting as the data protection manager for an international manufacturing company; a role which combined data protection expertise advice on local regulatory issues.
Jan is also an experienced technology lawyer, who advises on software licensing (SaaS and enterprise licences) including market data distribution, and public cloud issues. Jan has also worked extensively in the insurance software market (life and non-life).
In Jan’s in-house roles, she acts as a trusted adviser to bid teams, and is well-versed in RFP procedures, public and private procurement. She has worked extensively on public sector tenders in the technology space and is ideally placed to give strategic commercial advice.
